ready to start?

  1. make a pcb

    new to pcb making? check out hackpad and blueprint's starter projects/resources.

  2. design the case

    optional step, but you'll earn an additional keychain for making a case!

  3. document your work!

    to 'track' your hours, make a journal.md in your code repository going over your design process! make sure to update it regularly and take photos!

    you'll also want to add a BOM (bill of materials) to show what you'll be using your hardware grant on.

  4. ship your project

  5. get your prizes!

    a colorful lanyard and keychainevery project earns a lanyard and $5usd/hour towards a hardware grant.
    projects with custom 3d printed cases can earn an additional keychain!

can i participate?

anybody 18 years old or younger can particpate!

can i submit my pendant to another YSWS?

double-dipping (submitting one project to 2+ programs) is not allowed, sorry!

when does pendant start and end?

pendant runs from June 17, 2026, to June 18, 2026.

i need a summary of the rules!
  • project requirements:
    • less than 4" inches
    • has a keychain loop
    • utilizes electrical parts
  • code repository requirements:
    • must include a journal.md
    • must include a BOM (bill of materials)
  • prizes
    • hardware grant: $5usd/hour (paid with a HCB card)
    • lanyard: comes with all accepted projects
    • keychain: comes with projects with a 3d printed/CAD case
